BULLDOG SQUEEZERS (BLUE)
The Back Design Unchanged For Over 100 Years
This deck was originally printed in 1877 to commemorate the merger of the N.Y Consolidated Co. (maker of the Bee brand) and the A. Dougherty (Maker of the Tally Ho brand) playing card companies. Indicative of the agreement reached between them to honor each other's patents, the back design consists of two snarling dogs confronting each other.
Notice the dogs are chained to their houses. This symbolizes their agreement to remain on home turf for sales territories.
Each Bulldog has a name printed on its collar: Trip & Squeezer. Again, these names directly refer to A. Dougherty's Triplicates concept and Consolidated's Squeezers concept.
Printed with a cambric finish, a rougher cloth-like design embossed onto the surface of the cards, they are wonderful for sleight of hand and manipulation.
